Sir Erasmus Philipps, 5th Baronet (8 November 1699 – 5 October 1743) was a British Member of Parliament. [1]

Picton Castle

He was the son of Sir John Philipps, 4th Baronet, whom he succeeded in 1737. He was educated at Pembroke College, Oxford and studied law at Lincoln's Inn from 1721. [1]

He lived at Picton Castle, Pembrokeshire and was elected Member of Parliament for Haverfordwest in 1726, sitting until his death. [1]

He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1727. [2]

In 1743 he was drowned in the River Avon on his way home from Bath after his horse was frightened by some pigs. He was unmarried and was succeeded by his younger brother Sir John Philipps, 6th Baronet.[1]
