Sir George Beaumont, 4th Baronet
Sir George Beaumont, 4th Baronet (c. 1664 – 9 April 1737[1]) was a British politician.
He was a younger son of Sir Thomas Beaumont, 1st Baronet and his wife Elizabeth Farmer, daughter of George Farmer.[2] Beaumont was educated at New College, Oxford and graduated with a Bachelor of Civil Law in 1690.[2] In the same year he succeeded his older brother Thomas as baronet.[3] In 1713, he was awarded the degree of a Doctor of Civil Law by the University of Oxford.[2]
In 1702, Beaumont stood successfully as a Member of Parliament (MP) for Leicester.[4] He sat in both the Parliaments of England and Great Britain until his death in 1737.[4] In 1712, Beaumont was appointed a Commissioner of the Privy Seal,[5] and in 1714 a Lord of the Admiralty, a post held only for six months.[6]
Beaumont was unmarried and childless.[7] He was buried at Stoughton, Leicestershire and was succeeded in the baronetcy by his younger brother Lewis.[7]
