The Slovenian First League of women's handball (1. A Državna Rokometna Liga Ženske) is the top women's handball league in Slovenia. It is organized by the Handball Federation of Slovenia. The league comprises twelve teams.

History

Women's handball in Slovenia started as czech handball or Hazena in 1920. Slovenian championship was organized between two world wars and most successful team was Ilirija. After 1945, field handball was introduced and Slovenian Women's Championship was played until 1958. At that time team handball took over the popularity with Slovenian clubs being incorporated in the Yugoslav handball league system, competing for Yugoslav Women's Handball Championship. Branik Maribor and Olimpija Ljubljana were the only Slovenian clubs that competed in the Yugoslav First League.
