Snot was an alternative metal band based in Santa Barbara, California. They disbanded after the death of vocalist Lynn Strait.
Lynn's Death
In the beginning stages of recording their second album, Lynn was killed in a car accident on a California highway. The accident also took the life of Lynn's dog Dobbs, the dog that appears on the cover of Get Some.
Mike Doling: "We can't go on without Lynn, it's just bullshit when bands do that." [1]
Statement released by Snot: "Lynn just seemed to have this special energy, that no matter who was in the room, all these legends that we were touring with, they came second to Lynn's vibration. We wish more of the world could have experienced him. We cannot seem to explain that quality that he had in words. All the memories that we had with Lynn we will cherish in our hearts forever."[2]
Post-Snot
- Mike Doling replaced Logan Mader as guitarist for Soulfly (left September 2003 to play in Abloom with the former members of Soulfly and Onesidezero). He is currently in a new band called Invitro, whose debut album will be released September 11, 2007.[citation needed]
- John Fahnestock was in the band Amen (currently a touring member). He has now formed Three Thirteen Merch, a clothing outlet, in 2005. He's also in a band called Lo-Pro.
- Sonny Mayo joined Amen in May 1998. In 2004 he left to join (həd) p.e.. He has since joined Sevendust.
- Jamie Miller and Mike Smith formed Hero (now TheSTART) with Aimee Echo and Scott Ellis of Human Waste Project.
- Shannon Larkin is in Amen on record but no longer on stage, and is also a member of Godsmack, he also recorded drums for the song 30/30-150 on Stone Sour's latest album "Come What(ever) May".
- Mike Smith later joined Limp Bizkit until Wes Borland's return.
