The Socialist Group was a short-lived Trotskyist group in Britain during the late 1980s. Its publication was "Socialist Viewpoint".

It consisted of people who had been expelled or split from Sean Matgamna's Socialist Organiser. It went on to fuse with the International Group to become the International Socialist Group.

Its best known member was Alan Thornett. It had significant bases in Oxford and Coventry.
