Soltan (newspaper)
Soltan was a historic newspaper of the Bengali Muslim community based in Chittagong.[1][2][3]
History
Soltan was founded in 1903 and financed by Mirza Muhammad Yusuf Ali, the author of Shaubhagya Sparshamani. The founding editor of the newspaper was Maniruzzaman Islamabadi. Its name in Bengali was pronounced Choltan. The newspaper wrote about the issues facing the Muslim world. It stopped publication 1904. It was revived in 1926 and continued publication till 1928. The newspaper reflected the liberal views of its editor Maniruzzaman Islamabadi.[4] The newspaper was a supporter of the Swadeshi movement.[5][6]
