Somua S40 is a prototype France tank developed before the WWII based on Somua S35. Compared with Somua S35, Somua S40 had a new 220-hp diesel; its hull is longer than Somua S40; one extra pair of wheels was added on the suspension. Somua S40 also had a new turret ARL 2C. Mass production was once planned. However, the planning was canceled after the Fall of France in 1940.[1][2]
