Slade on stage in 1981

Sophia Gardens Pavilion was a performance venue located in Sophia Gardens, Cardiff, Wales. The venue was built in 1951 for the Festival of Britain.[1] The roof collapsed in 1982 due to heavy snowfall, and the building was subsequently demolished.[2]

The pavilion was used for the boxing and wrestling competitions of the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games.[3]

Many notable performers played at the pavilion, including Danny Kaye, Cliff Richard, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and Slade.[4][3]
