Speed limits in Singapore

Generally, the speed limits in Singapore are 50 km/h unless stated otherwise. Speed limit is restricted to 40 km/h in School Zones and Silver Zones.[1] All expressways have speed limits of 90 km/h. Offenders who are caught speeding between 6:30am and 12:00am will be fined and given demerit points as follows:

  • 1-20km/h: $130/4 demerit points
  • 21-30km/h: $150/6 demerit points
  • 31-40km/h: $180/8 demerit points
  • 41 and beyond: Prosecution in court

Offenders who are caught speeding between 12:00am and 6:30am will be fined and given demerit points as follows:

  • 1-20km/h: $160/6 demerit points
  • 21-30km/h: $180/8 demerit points
  • 31-40km/h: $240/10 demerit points
  • 41 and beyond: Prosecution in court
