Sreenivas G. Kappanna is an Indian specialist in theatrical and video productions.

he was born of humble origins to Giriyappa and Jayamma. He started stage work from his days as a student at The National College, Basavanagudi, where the eminent Padmabhushana Dr H. Narasimhaiah was his teacher, with the great make-up rtist Nani as his mentor. Since then he has worked in stage lighting, Sstage design, play production, presentation of folk and classical forms among others. He completed a meritorious stint as Chairman of the Karnataka Nataka Akademy.[1][2]

Theatrical work

A major part of Kappanna’s life between 1967 and 1970 was devoted to backstage work. Kappanna also lit English Language productions.

He has designed lighting for many dancers of the country.

Kappanna has also worked on a number of audio projects.

Television and Documentaries

He has worked in a number of television genres.

Events

He led and choreographed teams from Karnataka for the Indian Republic Day Parade between 1982 and 1998.

Presently Kappanna is the Artistic Director of the Prasidda Foundation, dedicated to the performing arts, and of Bhramari, a creative dance troupe.
