Steve McClure (born 1970) is a British rock climber with two ascents graded F9a and one confirmed hard 9a+. [1]

In 2002 McClure became the first British person ever to onsight more than 100 routes graded F8a or harder within 12 months. He was the British Champion (Indoor) in 2000. Steve is modest about his abilities putting his success down to other factors, in his own words he attributes his success to "Commitment, above all motivation, a little bit of luck and genetics."

In late May 2007, he made the first ascent of Overshadow at Malham Cove, 9a+.[2]

He is sponsored by the clothing make Fat Face.
