Stonehage Fleming was formed in 2014 when Fleming Family & Partners, the family office run by relatives of banking pioneer Robert Fleming[1] and James Bond creator Ian Fleming,[2] merged with Stonehage, an international family office with its roots in South Africa.[3]

The Company employs over 500 people across 11 offices in eight countries.[4]

History

The forerunner organisation to FF&P was set up by Robert Fleming in 1873, and Stonehage was set up in London in 1976.[5]

Stonehage Fleming traces its origins back to 1873 when Dundee-born financier Robert Fleming founded merchant bank Robert Fleming & Co.[6] Robert Fleming was widely respected on both sides of the Atlantic having amassed a large personal fortune investing in the American railroads.[7]

Stonehage was set up in 1976 as a multi-family office in London, by a number of South African families who had fled the apartheid regime.[8]

People

Giuseppe Ciucci[9] was appointed Group CEO and Charles Erasmus,[10] former Chairman of Stonehage, was appointed Group Chairman.

The chairman of FF&P Adam Fleming was appointed Group Deputy Chairman.[11] Mark Davies, CEO of FF&P and Lord Renwick,[12] Deputy Chairman of FF&P, also joined the Group’s board.[13]
