Sympistis cocytus is a moth of the Noctuidae family. It is found from South central British Columbia South to eastern Oregon from the treeline to the ponderosa pine zone at altitudes of 2,000 to 6,300 feet (610 to 1,920 m).

The wingspan is 32 to 39 mm (1.3 to 1.5 in). Adults are on wing from mid August to late September
