Synanthedon culiciformis, known as the large red-belted clearwing, is a moth of the family Sesiidae. It is found in the Palearctic ecozone and the Nearctic ecozone.
The wingspan is 23–27 millimetres (0.91–1.06 in). The length of the forewings is 12–14 mm (0.47–0.55 in). The moth flies from April to August depending on the location.
The larvae feed on various deciduous trees, especially birch but also alder.
