Synodontis alberti, the bigeye squeaker or alberti catfish, is a species of upside-down catfish native to the Congo Basin of Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo. This species grows to a length of 20.3 centimetres (8.0 in) TL.
Appearance
The coloration of the alberti catfish is a pattern of grey blotches on a brown background. It has long barbels to help it find food and special teeth to gather algae growing on rocks.
In the Aquarium
This fish should be provided with algae for food, though it will take tablets. It is best kept at a temperature of 22 – 27 C (72 – 81 F), a pH of 6.0 – 8.0 and a hardness of 50 – 200 mgl. It is generally nonagressive to tankmates.
