Tacoma Weekly is a weekly community newspaper published by Pierce County Community Newspaper Group (PCCNG). The paper started in 1987 as the Tacoma Monthly and in 1994 became the Tacoma Weekly.[1]

The newspaper has always been a free publication. It is distributed on Thursdays inside hundreds of businesses and public spaces in the Tacoma area. The paper underwent a major redesign in the summer of 2001. They switched from a tabloid format to a broadsheet format. This gave them considerable more space, allowing them to split the paper into two sections. As of April 2008, the paper consists of four sections: News, Sports, City Scene, and Classifieds.
