NPOV

Before you get all upset about me down playing the band with my recent edit, please note I am an advid fan of FIF. The NPOV policy should be withheld, however, to remove possible bias. Regarding this line, "thier belief about the healing power of God's unending love" is the theme they sing about. It does not neccesarily state anyone from Wikipedia believes or does not believe it, simply that the band in general did. --Ritz 02:45, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

links I would like to remove

  • Exhumator - was a local denver band of no fame except for Five Iron, afaik. How many dead local bands need articles on wikipedia?
  • perhaps all of the band members' names, or at least the ones who have no public fame beyond five iron - brad's cool, but who would write an encyclopedia article on him? it doesn't seem useful to put up a page that says "Brad was a member of Five Iron Frenzy, the end. However, it may be that these band members will become well-known enough to have wikipedia articles for other reasons...in that case links would be good. Should these be left in hopes this will happen eventually?
  • either masaki liu or one way studio - I would prefer one way studio to go. I can imagine an article on saki, but I don't know if an article on One Way Studio would be very useful.

basically, in my opinion, some of the links currently on the page are links to articles that are not likely to be written ever, and should be removed.

I see what you're saying about Saki and Exhumator. However, with the band member's links, I believe that these should say up for consistancy. I mean, half the members are in BS2, Reese and Sonny are in Rodeo, and Chaka and Scott are in Yellow Second. Plus, Jeff and Reese went (or are about to go) on a speaking tour. Most of the band members do have fame outside of FIF. To place links to them but not the others would seem inconsistant.

By the way, does Andy hate being called Chaka? I haven't heard much concerning it.

Sounds good. I'm going to get rid of the Exhumator and One Way links. I plan to write an article on Saki/One Way and put it under "Masaki Liu" with a redirect from One Way. I didn't know the Yellow Second info. I'll add that, and make a few other changes as per Wikipedia:WikiProject_Music_standards.

I've never heard any of the band members call Andy 'Chaka' since on the live album. I'm not sure what he prefers.

Stereotyping/Standards

"While the band failed by many standards, they were successful in providing a social context for thousands of teenagers who found it difficult to connect with society through other means."

What the heck is that supposed to mean? That seems like a stereotype that is not necessarily true. I wouldn't mind if it was, but I don't think it is. I know that at the concerts I went to, the majority of FIF fans were more of the hardcore don't-touch-me type than the confused, emo type. Also, what is the "standard" by which we judge a band's success (or lack of)? It seems to me that having regular multi-thousand person concerts kind of disqualifies them as having "failed". You don't have to be plastered on MTV 24/7 to be a successful band.the1physicist 03:42, 14 September 2005 (UTC)

FIF pic

Where did that pic come from? I have never seen it before and am also an avid Five Iron fan. It is an excellent picture and really should be kept. Who added it and where did it come from? --Energysword 18:59, 7 December 2005 (UTC)
