I'll take on this review. I'm using Taurus-Littrow (lunar valley), Fra Mauro formation, Aristarchus (crater), and Shackleton (crater) as reference articles. --Starstriker7(Talk) 22:16, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, Starstriker7, for reviewing the article. It's very much appreciated. Tyrol5 [Talk] 11:52, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Criterion 1[edit]

Lead[edit]

  • There are a lot of terms in the lead that I see whose definitions aren't immediately clear. You could save the slightly ignorant (like me) lots of time navigating wikilinks by defining some of these terms, if you'd like. (Ex. "and Hadley Rille, a sinuous rille --> and Hadley Rille, a sinuous rille (collapsed magma channel)" and "in a region known as Palus Putredinis --> in a lava plain known as Palus Putredinis".) Again, these changes are entirely up to you, but I think it might make things easier. (This was a first impression, before I read any other part of the article)

Geography and geology[edit]

Apollo 15 landing site[edit]

It is interesting to see that you didn't break this section off as its own "Landing site selection" portion, but I think it is a better fit here.

  • "that featured increased scientific capability and the use of the Lunar Roving Vehicle" - That featured both increased scientific capability and the use of the Lunar Roving Vehicle"
 Done
Apennine Front[edit]
  • I don't know if the Sierra Nevada mountains can even compare to the Himalayas. :P
  • You mentioned samples of KREEP, anorthosites, norite, and breccia in the lead were found here, but I don't see it elsewhere in the article. Slip it into this section.
 Done
Rima Hadley[edit]
  • "vary in texture and albedo, or reflectivity." - I think it might be more clear to put it like "vary in texture and albedo (reflectivity)."
  • Can "Běla" be wikilinked?
  • Is "spawns" the right word?
Done Clarified albedo/linked Běla to Mons Hadley#Nearby craters/changed "spawns" to "begins".
South Cluster and North Complex[edit]
  • "The North Complex is a series of several landforms" - is a collection of several landforms?

Criterion 2[edit]

  • J-mission isn't referenced in reference 1. It's mentioned and cited in the article, so you can remove the lead ref.
  • Would it make more sense to move reference 5 to "(also referred to as Rima Hadley)"?
  • Reference 6 appears to have been written before Apollo 15 took place, so it doesn't cover how Apollo 15 didn't get to cover the North Complex.
Done Improved refs in lead/moved ref 5/clarified referencing in North Complex paragraph.

Criterion 3[edit]

    • Reference 6 states that the event that formed the crater Autolycus created the South Cluster, and that Autolycus is about 100 miles to the northwest of the South Cluster. You should probably add that part, but I won't withhold GA if you don't.
 Done

Criterion 4[edit]

The article has a neutral tone, and doesn't really give undue weight to any particular viewpoint (mostly because there are no competing viewpoints here… :P )

Criterion 5[edit]

The article is stable. It looks like only two editors have touched this article, and all the edits but one are yours.

Criterion 6[edit]

Both images, captions and all, check out.

Overall comments[edit]

I haven't finished the review yet, just so you know. For now, I've completely evaluated for all but criterion 2, where I've checked the first six references. I'll finish this up in a little bit. --Starstriker7(Talk) 00:31, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm back. I covered the last few. I verified one of the four references used by the Preliminary Science Report, but I don't have the time to read through the 546 page paper. I definitely respect you for working through that reference. :P Anyways, I only have two side comments that don't really fit into the other criteria:
  • The title is "Hadley-Apennine (Moon)". Is there a reason why this is disambiguated in that way? If so, then perhaps it should be moved to something along the lines of (lunar region). After all, Taurus-Littrow is disambiguated to (lunar valley). In any case, it doesn't really challenge GA criteria, so I won't hold you to it.
Done Moved page to Hadley–Apennine (lunar region). I had a bit of trouble deciding on the name of the article, but disambiguation is indeed needed, as during a peer review of Taurus-Littrow, it was suggested that it be moved to its current location to add more meaning/background to the title.
  • I remember being told in a previous GA review that, if a source is used as a reference, it shouldn't be relisted as an external link. If this is true, then you should remove the preliminary science report link in the External Links section.
 Done

Other than that, excellent work on building this informative article. I knew virtually nothing about Apollo 15 before, and I am glad to be more informed as a result of your work. I'll pass this once all GA-related issues are resolved. --Starstriker7(Talk) 02:30, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again for your excellent review. Tyrol5 [Talk] 11:52, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome. I will pass the article in a sec. :) --Starstriker7(Talk) 22:30, 29 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
