[edit]Article reassessed and graded as start class although I'm not entirely sure what this is considered Military History. --dashiellx (talk) 14:51, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
not just military?
[edit]Is it worth noting perhaps that it's not just the military that uses the term "KP" with regards to this sort of task? A lot of eateries that hire young teenagers as potwashes etc refer to them as KP, I've seen a fair share of that! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.27.110.134 (talk) 01:29, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
- The term's used here in the UK as well, though as far as I know only in a civilian context as .134 describes. It's never expanded as "kitchen police" or "kitchen patrol" though, always "kitchen porter". PeteVerdon (talk) 13:35, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Popular Culture - Lolita
[edit]In Kubrick's Lolita (1962 film), her husband says "Just holler, sweetheart, if you want me for KP." --195.137.93.171 (talk) 07:13, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
KP as "kitchen porter"
[edit]Here in the UK, the job "KP" takes place not just in military kitchens but any kitchen, and KP stands for "kitchen porter" (source). I may change this article in the future to broaden its scope to include kitchen porter roles as well. NemesisAT (talk) 23:39, 5 August 2021 (UTC)
