Taxonomy

[edit]

Krysko et al. 2017 reclassified several members of the genus Lampropeltis and elevated Lampropeltis nigrita to species status; this is the name currently accepted by the SSAR

The SSAR gives the English name as 'Western Black Kingsnake,' but I have never heard that common name used and don't think readers will be familiar with it. I will list it as an alternative name unless suggested otherwise?

How-to Husbandry Information

[edit]

As an observation, this article seems to be functioning largely as a how-to guide for pet keepers to keep kingsnakes. More than half of the article is a "captivity" section. Husbandry tutorials are generally not appropriate for Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not#Wikipedia_is_not_a_manual,_guidebook,_textbook,_or_scientific_journal Connorlong90 (talk) 06:03, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I separated information into sections and moved or removed a substantial portion of the "captivity" section as it was functioning as a tutorial/editorial and was lacking in citations. Connorlong90 (talk) 06:20, 16 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
