Actual name of ritual[edit]

It's "Lesser Banishing Ritual", isn't it? And shouldn't it be under "Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram" which should cover both banishing and invoking? --999 20:42, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Both "Ritual" and "Rite" are acceptable, and both are commonly used. However, you're probably right about making an article for the Lesser Ritual in general. I'll get right on that.

Please remember to sign your messages with ~~~~. Also, look to the oldest source for the proper name. Regardie's brick is probably old enough. Crowley uses "ritual" in Liber O, so I think ritual is the correct word. -999 20:49, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Origin[edit]

There is a "citation needed" on the top section that states "ritual that originated from the 'Key of Solomon'." This should just be removed. There is no indication of the LRP being in the Key of Solomon. "We make war that we may live in peace." -Aristotle (talk) 09:41, 27 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Origins of the Call to the Archangels and of the Godnames[edit]

I recall from when I used to be a believer in the Occult that there was a Babylonian or Sumerian prayer which evoked four gods to the cardinal points that was a precursor to the Hebraic archangel evocation. However I no longer own the book I read this in, does anybody have any sources or even knowledge of this?

The calling of the godnames to seal the cardinal directions is traceable back to the Sefer Yetzirah (3rd/4th Century AD) unless anybody has any earlier sources. Typo in the diagram?[edit]

In the middle of the diagram, where it transcribes the words of the Qabalistic Cross, the top word (ateh) is given as "אמה", which based on my extremely limited knowledge of Hebrew letters would be something like "ameh". I THINK the correct transcription would be something like אתה. I don't know enough to be sure, though, and I have no idea how to edit SVGs, so maybe someone else can deal with that.

Oh, and I just noticed another, down at the bottom. Malkuth actually says Malkum.

You are partially correct. The letter looks like 'teth' rather than 'mem', so the pronunciation is as expected, but the spelling is wrong as it should be 'tau' in both cases. I'll remove the image. Skyerise (talk) 11:03, 14 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
