As a resident of Old North Knoxville, I can positively state that aside from a few ambitious city planners and the staff of the now defunct weeklies MetroPulse and Knoxville Mercury, no one refers to this area as "Downtown North" in any way that isn't ironic or even sarcastic. The term's appearance in this article is nothing less that some interested party's attempt to legitimatize that term.
