though short lived, an important journal in its time. Most of them were shortlived. And there's very little information available about it online unless you have academic journal access. (Fishwick's 1951 article makes the case for it as the understudied most important contributor to American literary nationalism). perhaps would be better as part of a longer article on Early American Magazines, but no one has written that...perhaps i will if i find time. not sure i understand what "context for inclusion" means. i added this page because i have been editing John Neal and Neal was a major contributor to The Portico.
but- my first try at creating an article--if it should be deleted, so be it! i'll save a text file and use the info in the longer article if i get around to it.....
