Firing at an iceberg
[edit]My grandfather (Emery H. Loomis) was the quartermaster on the uss bouge. During WWII there was a blip on the radar screen. the blip was hailed several times and didn't respond. they fired at the blip and when they arrived at the blip area it turned out to be a iceberg. --HRH Crown Princess Abi of the United lands of Liberty 23:37, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Escort carriers were often named for bodies of water. USS Bogue was named for Bogue Sound.
