Part of Auckland[edit]

The Whangaparaoa peninsula is part of the Auckland urban area, at least according to Statistics New Zealand's 2001 definitions. Here is a list of some nearby Area Units they include in the Northern Auckland Zone (one of four parts of Auckland urban area): Red Beach, Waiwera, Hatfields Beach, Orewa, Stanmore Bay, Manly, Army Bay, Gulf Harbour, Silverdale South, Silverdale North, Dairy Flat-Redvale.[1] You can see the boundary online by zooming in on the area, turning on the orange "Urban Areas and Rural Centres" boundary lines, and turning off the blue Area Unit boundaries (which obscure it). There is a 2006 classification, but I don't know if details of this have been publicly released yet. -- Avenue 10:55, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Whangaparaoa is not in Auckland[edit]

Whangaparaoa is not in Auckland, it is in the Rodney District. Between Auckland and Rodney lies the North Shore district.

It depends what you mean by "Auckland". Whangaparaoa is not in Auckland City, or in the Auckland local calling area, but it is in the Auckland Region. It is also counted as part of the Auckland urban area by Statistics New Zealand (along with Orewa and Waiwera), and this is what Category:Auckland refers to. I think the text is wrong about the ARC defining this; I will track down a source and check. -- Avenue 04:49, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

New Zealand's urban areas were defined by Statistics NZ, back when it was call the Department of Statistics. 2) Whangaparaoa.
