Talmer Bancorp is an American bank holding company headquartered in Troy, Michigan. It is the parent company of Talmer Bank & Trust and operates banks in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.

It was founded in 2007 as First Michigan Bank.[1] As the 2008 financial crisis caused a large number of bank failures, First Michigan beginning in 2010 began acquiring failed banks in Wisconsin and Michigan. Because of the addition of out of state banks, First Michigan changed its name to Talmer in 2011.[2]

Talmer sold its banks in Wisconsin in 2014 to Town Bank, a regional bank based in Hartland, Wisconsin.[3]

Talmer has acquired additional banks since then so it now has 94 branch offices in four Midwestern states.

In January 2016 it was announced that Talmer had been acquired by Chemical Bank (Chemical Financial Corporation) of Midland, Michigan, subject to regulatory approval.[4]
