Background

Tanzania Social Support Foundation also known by acronym as "TSSF" is the Non - Governmental Organization which was established on 18 July 2011 on the territory of the United Republic of Tanzania. The Organization works on all cities and regions of Tanzania. Having been established, TSSF was officially registered by the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania on 15 September 2011.[1] Since its establishment, the Organization has been working as youth- led Organization and it has been involving majority of youths across Tanzania in issues of Good Governance, poverty alleviation, environment,[2] education, legal aid services,[3] civic education and youth activism.[4] TSSF has been a center for research on youth policy development and analysis in Tanzania whereby the organizational center is in cooperation with Tanzanian governmental departments in giving out the consultancy services to the government and youth led civil society and non governmental organizations on issues of youth development in Tanzania.[5][6][7]

TSSF and Youth Empowerment in African Continent

Tanzania Social Support Foundation has been a base for formation of the youth activism in Africa and it is among the front line youth led Organizations which is advocating for youth rights and welfare in Africa.In 2015 Tanzania Social Support Foundation managed to invite youth led civil society and non governmental organizations across Africa and establish the Pan African Confederation of Youth Associations (PACYA) . TSSF has been facing resistances from existing structures of youth bodies in Africa despite its achievements in influencing the youth activism in Africa,[8][9]

TSSF and Youth Empowerment in Tanzania

In 2014 Tanzania Social Support Foundation started to run a life skills training programs to youths across the Universities and Colleges in Tanzania for the purpose of preparing Tanzanian youth graduate be ready to face the challenges related to unemployment and in November 2014 the Organization held a National Youth Summit with the theme Understanding Gas and Oil Economy: Policies and its implications to youths of Tanzania[10] Also TSSF runs a Center for Development in South - Eastern Tanzania (CDSET) which is special for empowering the youths and residents of Mtwara and Lindi Regions of Tanzania in both economic, social, political, and cultural dimensions of life.[11][12][13][14][15][16][17] In 2015 TSSF initiated the movement of teachers in Tanzania by establishing the Organization by the name "Teaching Society of Tanzania" for the purpose of advocating the quliaty of teaching profession in Tanzania, including the improved working conditions among the Tanzanian Teachers. [18]
