Tapizar (foaled May 6, 2008) is a retired racehorse who is best who is best known for his wins in the San Fernando Stakes, and the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile.
Career
2-year old season
As 2-year old Tapizar ran 4 times, the first race was a 3rd. In his next race he ran against future champions Pants on fire, and Mucho Macho Man. But at the start of the race Tapizar unseated the rider and the finished race riderless. After another failed attempt he won his first race in his last start of the year.
3-year old season
To start the 3-year old season Tapizar won the sham stakes. In his next start Tapizar was a disappointing 5th, but after the race he got a chipped knee and did not race for another 8 months. By October Tapizar had recovered completely and planned to return in an allowance and he won the race. After that he attempted to win his first G1 race in the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile.He was 5th.
4-year old season
To start the 4-year old season Tapizar won the San Fernando . After a 4th in the Charles H. Strub Stakes and a 2nd Razerback handicap Tapizar did not race for another 5 months. He finally returned in the West Virginia Governor's stakes. But his last race would be his second attempt at the Breeders Cup Dirt Mile. But he had 2 big challengers named, Fed Biz, and Shackleford. He took care of both and won comfortably and was retired to stud.
