This template was created to easily update any relevant article with the 1968-69 NHL East Division standings, rather than creating a separate wikitable for each article.

To use the template on any article, insert:

The template also has the capability to highlight a particular row of team's statistics in green, simply by appending a three-letter code to the template name. For example, if you want to highlight the New York Rangers' statistics, insert:

The codes for all teams in the West Division are as follows:

• Boston Bruins = BOS
• Chicago Black Hawks = CHI
• Detroit Red Wings = DET
• Montreal Canadiens = MON
