Interlinear glosses

[edit]

How far has work on this template gone? In case it hasn't been completely shelved, I'm wondering whether it's really a good idea for this template to ultimately strive to also format interlinear linguistic glosses. For this latter purpose there now exist the new Template:interlinear (for glossed text) and Template:gcl (for individual abbreviations). How should the projected Template:gloss of the future fit in with these? – Uanfala (talk) 00:20, 13 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If other templates are already handling IGs, this one shouldn't duplicate that effort. I'll update the /doc to point to those templates.  — SMcCandlish ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ʌ<  16:15, 13 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Uanfala: Some of the "Don't over-do it" documentation should probably be ported to the Template:Interlinear/doc, though it may need work in general. I hadn't touched this in a while, and had been about to work on this template more, then all the Lua stuff with {{lang}} started, so I've been waiting.  — SMcCandlish ¢ >ʌⱷ҅ʌ<  16:35, 13 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I agree that it's a good idea to have this advice somewhere visible: either in the template documentation, or in some as-of-yet-unwritten (?) style guide to language/linguistics articles. – Uanfala (talk) 02:13, 14 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

gloss template versus translation template for inline translation

[edit]

When an inline gloss is a translation, what are he considerations for using {{gloss}} versus using {{translation}}? Shmuel (Seymour J.) Metz Username:Chatul (talk) 13:25, 2 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Typo: paratheses

[edit]

Please correct the spelling to parentheses. The typo is in the template documentation. Indefatigable (talk) 14:37, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
