Terence Nicholas Lazard was born on 19 October 1965 in Cape Town, South Africa, and is a former cricket player for South Africa’s Western Province cricket team. He also played for the Eastern Province and Boland teams.

Born and raised in Cape Town, Lazard has two brothers and one sister. His parents were both doctors, which might have influenced him in his study choice later on in life as after completing high school, he enrolled at the University of Cape Town in 1984 to study medicine.

Five years later, Lazard obtained his MBCHB degree. Lazard currently resides in Johannesburg, South Africa. He is married and has three daughters.

Cricket

In the 1980s, Lazard got involved in and played professional cricket. He played as a batsman for South Africa’s Western Province cricket team from 1983 until 1995. This team made its debut in 1890, and represented the western half of what was back in the days called the Cape Province.

After apartheid was abolished, the Cape province was divided into the Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Northern Cape, and part of another, North West.

During his time as a Western province cricket player, Lazard also played for Boland - a regional cricket team based outside of Cape Town. In 2004, this team merged with the Western Province cricket to take part in the SuperSport Series. This is the main domestic first class cricket competition in South Africa.

After the merger, both teams collectively continued under the name Western Province Cobras, commonly known as Cape Cobras. The highlight of Lazard’s cricket career was breaking the South African record by scoring 307 runs in 1983/84 during a Boland versus Western Province pre-season friendly game.

Lazard, later on, started an international interior design company together with his wife.

In 2004, the former Western Province batsman embarked on a new mission by founding a company called Retail Mobile Credit Specialists (RMCS).
