The Beat is the 14th studio album by Boney James released on April 9, 2013. At the 56th Annual Grammy Awards (held on January 26, 2014), The Beat lost out to Steppin' Out performed by Herb Alpert in the Best Pop Instrumental Album category.[citation needed]
