The Blue Bottle coffee house was one of the first coffee houses in Vienna, Austria. It was founded in 1703 by the Armenian Isaac de Luca (Sahak Lucasian).[1]
A common legend says that it was founded by Jerzy Franciszek Kulczycki, who was long claimed to be the first to serve coffee in Vienna. In reality this and other stories about him related to coffee were invented by Gottfried Uhlich in 1783.[2]
More recently, the name has also been used by the Blue Bottle Coffee Company, a coffee roaster and chain of coffee shops based in Oakland, California.[3][4]
