Dark Side of the Moon (Обратная сторона Луны, or Obratnaya storona Luny) is a Russian detective television series, based on the BBC series Life on Mars.[1][2][3][4][5]

The show was renewed for a second season.[6]

Plot

In 2011, Mikhail Soloviev Jr. is a Moscow police captain. He is hit by a car while trying to arrest a violent maniac, and wakes up in the body of his father, Moscow police lieutenant Mikhail Soloviev Sr., in 1979.

Mikhail is not sure if he is dreaming while in a coma, or if he has gone insane, or if he has really gone back in time. He must cope with the alien-to-him environment of Soviet Russia, and catch criminals (including a serial killer who is just getting started) and—above all else—figure out what has happened to him.

Title

The series is named for a Pink Floyd album of the same name rather than a David Bowie song. This is because Pink Floyd was popular in the Soviet Union in the late 1970s, whereas Bowie was relatively unknown.[1] It is notable for its track Brain Damage, which is the only song to include the album title in its lyrics.
