Untitled

The Hanged Man is the fourth album by the English psychedelic rock band Poisoned Electrick Head, and their last prior to an eight-year hiatus.

Personnel

The band's second singer Katmandu (Andy Ford) left the band during the recording of the album, resulting in a more dominant role for the remaining singer Emerald Greenshade (Peter Atherton). Other members of the band also contributed more prominent vocals than they had in the past. Shortly prior to the album's release, the band jettisoned both their elaborate stage costumes and their previous stage names.

This was also the last album to feature bass player Paul Bunyan and keyboard player Brian Carney, both of whom were to leave the band over the next two years.

Style

In contrast to its song-based predecessor, The Hanged Man is split approximately half-and-half between full songs and short instrumentals (some of which feature minimal vocal input). The latter are predominantly synthesizer/sampler-based and explore a variety of directions including ambient trance, thrash metal, techno and world music.
