The Kindred is a 1987 American horror film directed by Jeffrey Obrow and Stephen Carpenter. Obrow also produced the film and co-wrote it along with Carpenter, Earl Ghaffari and John Penney. The film stars David Allen Brooks, Amanda Pays and Rod Steiger. It was released on January 9, 1987 and grossed just over $2 million.

Plot

Amanda's deathbed request to her son, John, was for him to destroy all the lab notes from her last experiment. She also blurts out he had a brother. At the funeral John meets Melissa, who claims to be his mothers biggest fan. Together with some of John's friends they go to Amanda's house, but none are prepared for what they find there.

The film received a limited release in New York City on January 9, 1987, however the film had a theatrical release on July 16, 1987, in Australia.[citation needed] Currently, there has been no official DVD or Blu-Ray release for the film, and the film only exists on VHS.[2]

Currently on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a 44% audience score with an average rating of 3.1/5 based on 632 reviews.[3]
