The Look of Love is the fourth solo album of Trijntje Oosterhuis and the second jazz album by Trijntje and was released on November 20, 2006. The album was released in Japan on January 17, 2007 under the artist name Traincha with a bonus song "Anyone Who Had a Heart (live)".[1] The album consists of Burt Bacharach covers and has been recorded with the Metropole Orchestra.

Album information

Trijntje Oosterhuis wanted to make an homage to Bacharach, because he wrote so many songs and most people don't even realize how many hits were written by his hand and this was a way that she could offer him the respect he deserves.[2] Trijntje approached Bacharach that she wanted to do an album with covers of his songs, and subsequently flew to Los Angeles where she asked him whether he would like to play the piano on some tracks. Bacharach picked "Waiting for Charlie to Come Home" (originally written for Etta James) and "This House Is Empty Now" (originally written for Elvis Costello).[3]

The Metropole Orchestra was arranged by Vince Mendoza who gained notoriety for arranging the Grammy winning album Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell. The album was mixed by Al Schmitt.

The album was certified Platinum on the day of release for having shipped more than 70,000 copies [4] and debuted at #1 on the Dutch album chart for two weeks.[5] Trijntje performed a Christmas tour with the Metropole Orchestra from December 6, 2006 onwards to promote the album.[6]
