The Main Features of Cybernetics was a key text which led to the emergence of cybernetics in the Soviet Union. Its key author was Anatoly Kitov, but both Alexey Lyapunov and Sergey Sobolev – they both enjoyed considerable status at the time – agreed to add their names as authors. It was published in Voprosy filosofii in Issue 4, 1955.

Kitov had been a pupil of Lyapunov.
