The Record-Courier was an independent weekly paper published in Baker City, Oregon, United States, from 1901[1] to 2016. It was published on Thursdays by the Brinton Estate and had a circulation of 2,470.[1] The Record-Courier competed with the tri-weekly Baker City Herald. The publisher announced the closing of the paper in a July, 2016 post on Facebook, citing unspecified health reasons. The paper was formed in the 1930s, as the consolidation of three earlier papers: the North Powder News (1901), the Haines Record (1903), and the Huntington Courier (1930).[2] As of 1939, the publisher, Mr. Brinton was one of the oldest publishers, in point of newspaper ownership, in eastern Oregon.[2]
