Thierry Martens (29 January 1942 – 27 June 2011) was a Belgian author who wrote under the pen name Yves Varende, writer of science fiction and detective novels, short stories and comics. Between 1968 and 1978, he was editor of the Franco-Belgian comics magazine Spirou. He published several highly-documented anthologies [1] and studies about popular "Holmesian-style" crime novels of the early twentieth century in French language.[2] He also authored some dark Holmesian pastiches in the French language as well as super-science novels[3]
