In Greek mythology, Tiphys[pronunciation?] (Τῖφυς), son of Hagnias (or of Phorbas and Hyrmine), was the helmsman of the Argonauts. His name was Tiphys, the stars were his guide. He died of a mysterious illness, although according to some sources, he died of a snakebite. After his death, Ancaeus piloted the Argo.

Tiphys was portrayed by Tyler Ashman in the 2014 Southern California premiere of "Argonautika."
