Tony Ashton

Edward Anthony Ashton (March 1,1946, in Blackburn, Lancashire - May 28, 2001) was a British rock musician who played in the British rock band Family as well as in Paice-Ashton-Lord with Deep Purple alumni Ian Paice and Jon Lord. An accomplished keyboardist, Ashton first gained recognition in the United Kingdom in 1971 as a member of Ashton, Gardner and Dyke when that trio's single "Resurrection Shuffle" hit number three on the U.K. singles charts.

Ashton died of cancer in 2001 at age 55.
