Tonyrefail School is a comprehensive school near Porth in Rhondda Cynon Taf, the former county of Mid Glamorgan.

The school referred to as "lower school" was built over 100 years ago. Where as "upper" and "middle" school was built in the mid 60's.

In October 2011 Tonyrefail was inspected under the new ESTYN frame work and was judged to be an 'High achieving' school in terms of its current performance, prospects for improvement, standards, pupil outcomes, teaching and leadership.

Following the planning process, construction will begin later this year with completion in 2018. New governing body arrangements for this new school will shortly take place.

The new educational facilities planned for Tonyrefail form part of the wider £85million investment in education in Rhondda and Tonyrefail which is being supported by the Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools Programme.

This investment includes a new age range of 3-19 in Tonyrefail, bringing the community together.
