Topps Tiles plc is a British national retailer based in Enderby. It is listed on the London Stock Exchange, and is a constituent of the FTSE 250.

History

The first store was opened in Manchester in 1963, by Alan Brindle and Ted Derbyshire, and then the stores were sold/merged with a chain based in London owned by Barry Bester and Stuart Williams. There are now stores totalling over 340 across the United Kingdom. Topps has, in 2014, opened boutique format stores in London and the North West.

Originally, the firm was based in Wilmslow, but is now based near Leicester at Grove Park, next to the M1. In turn, it is near Enderby and the B1114 (former A46). From 2007–2009, Topps Tiles sponsored Leicester City. In November 2010, Topps Tiles launched an new slogan, "Tiles for Everyone".

Products

Topps Tiles sells floor and wall tiles, natural stone and related products and accessories such as underfloor heating, tools, adhesives, grouts and cleaning products.

Market share

Topps Tiles have a market share of 30% in the United Kingdom. In 2014, group revenue was £205.3 million, with an operating profit of £42.5 million. The annual report of 2014, gave the market share of Topps Tiles of the domestic tile sector in the United Kingdom as 30%, an increase on the previous year of 2%.[citation needed]
