Trifle (trimaran)
Appearance
Trifle was a 42 ft (13 m)[1] trimaran[1] sailboat[1] designed by Derek Kelsall and produced in 1966[2] as a further development of his first trimaran Toria.[1] Featuring a full roach main and small jib,[2] the vessel took part in the 1967 Crystal Trophy race in the English Channel.[1] At the time, it was considered one of the fastest ocean-going multihulls in the world.[1]

The full roach main and small jib has become standard for catamarans. We used it on 42 ft. trimaran Trifle in 1966 and for most of our racing and cruising cats and tris that followed, though with a short period when we toyed with cutter rigs, but soon returned to full roach main and small jib.
