History

Uline was founded in 1980 by Dick and Liz Uihlein and originally distributed a single item, a carton sizer. Dick and Liz Uihlein started their business in their basement; the company has grown to employ more than 4,500 people.[citation needed]

Expansion

The Village Board of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin unanimously approved final plans for a second building at Uline’s headquarters in February 2016.[5]

Political activity

Uline CEO Richard Uihlein has been a Republican donor for decades, and increased his political giving after Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.[6] Uihlein has supported conservative groups and candidates like Ted Cruz, The Club for Growth, and the Illinois Policy Institute. Uihlein is also a major donor to Americas PAC,[7] Scott Walker,[8] and Bruce Rauner.[6] In August 2016, Donald Trump announced the appointment of Uline President and co-founder Liz Uihlein to the position of national vice-chair for fundraising efforts for his campaign.[9]
