The United Democratic Youth Organisation (Greek: Ενιαία Δημοκρατική Οργάνωση Νεολαίας (ΕΔΟΝ), Eniaia Dimokratiki Organosi Neolaias, EDON) is a communist political organisation in Cyprus, and the political youth wing of the Progressive Party of Working People, commonly known as AKEL.[1] The EDON is a member of the World Federation of Democratic Youth.[2]

Political beliefs

The organization supports a federal solution to the Cyprus problem. It decided for a negative response for the Annan Plan. It supports like the Progressive Party of Working People rapprochement with the Turkish Cypriots.

Participation in political events and demonstrations

The organization takes part in all the events organised by AKEL and annually demonstrates on the 18th of July against the Greek coup and the Turkish Invasion of Cyprus.

The organization takes part in the main conferences of AKEL which are held every 5 years and are attended by thousands of the political party's supporters. The organization also organizes its own conferences which also take place every 5 years.
