University Lake School is a 180-acre school in the Lake Country area of Waukesha County in Wisconsin.[1] It opened in 1958 with 135 acres on the Vettelson farm close to shore of Nagawicka Lake.[2][3]

It has 290 pupils in Pre-Kindergarten to Grade 12.[4] Current varsity and junior varsity athletics include basketball, golf, tennis, soccer, cross country, track, volleyball and field hockey. University Lake School strives to be a premier college preparatory school whose students participate in a challenging program of academics, arts and athletics.

History

The first president was John M. Friend.[5]

It was initially founded out of concerns of overcrowding in the public schools.[6] Questionnaires were sent out to select families, and 72 families were interested, which would enroll 178 students.

Other founding officers were: Robert C. Brumder, vice-president, Robert L. Manegold, secretary.[7]

When the school obtained its permanent residence, the executive committee of trustees were: Herbert E Brumder, Robert C. Brumder, Mr and Mrs Edward Yewer, Mr and Mrs David Pabst, Mr and Mrs Paul Hibbard.[8]

Notable donations

Mrs. Herbert Brumder donated $100,000 to the school in memory of her son, who died in car accident.[9]
