'''Sohail Sangi''' is a senior journalist and activist of leftist movement in Pakistan. Presently working with [[Daily Dawn]]. visiting faculty of Mass Communication Department, [[University of Sindh]].

Sohail was born in village [[Janjhi]] of [[Tharparkar]] district in 1953. He did his M.A in Englsih from [[University of Sindh]] Jamshoro in seventies. He was activist of left wing students organisation [[Sindh National Students Federation]] during student life.

He joined journalism in mid seventies. He was one of the pioneer of [[Daily Sindh News]] which was published under the editorship of [[Shaikh Aziz]] in 1975 and later, also worked with [[Daily Ibrat]], [[Daily Safeer]], [[Daily Awami Awaz]], and [[Daily Kawish]].

Also worked with weekly [[Bedari]] and weekly [[Sachai]] with [[Ali Hassan]].
He was founder of [[Daily Awami Awaz]] the first computerised newspaper of Sindhi language and [[Weekly Arsee]]. Sangi wrote and translated half a dozen books on different topics.

His reputation is for pioneer of resistance journalism in Sindh.
Sangi was arrested in July 1980 and he along with [[Jam Saqi]], [[Prof Jamal Naqvi]], [[Badar Abro]], [[Kamal Warsi]] and [[Shabbir Shar]] was tried by Special Military court in 1982-83 for bringing socialist revolution in Pakistan. He was declared Prisoner of Conscience by [[Amnesty International]] in 1984. Later was released in 1985. After his releaded he joined [[Daily Aftab]] Hyderabad edited by vetran journalist [[Shaikh Ali Mohammed]].

Apart from other contribution, he brought progressive activists in Sindhi media which changed the colour and flavour of this media.

He had been freelance contributor of [[BBC Urdu]].
