Mahbobi left Turkey to live in Canada where she continued to work with the International Federation of Iranian Refugees. She worked as the coordinator of the Action Committee on Women’s Rights in Iran (ACWRI) where she worked on raising awareness of the situation of Iranian women with international organizations such as Amnesty International. Mahbobi was one of the main organisers of the International Women’s Day in Toronto, Canada.

Mahbobi left Toronto for London, and while working as an interpreter, computer programmer and web designer. She became a member of the public relations committee of the International Committee Against Stoning, which lead an active campaign to abolish the Islamic law promoting stoning of women all around the world.
